Dörtyol Map Poster & Print
Dörtyol is in Hatay province in southern Turkey, near the north-eastern corner of the Mediterranean, on the shore of the Gulf of İskenderun. The town sits on a narrow coastal plain between the sea and the slopes of the Amanos Mountains, which rise steeply inland. On the map that gives it a clear shape: coastline on one side, rising ground on the other.
The name means 'four roads' in Turkish, a reminder that the town grew at a crossing point on the routes along this coast. Main roads and the coastal highway still run through it, with the older centre where they meet and newer districts stretching along the shore.
The plain around the town is covered with orange and other citrus orchards, and Dörtyol is well known for its citrus. From above, the orchards form a pattern of small rectangular plots between the town and the hills. A Dörtyol map poster brings together the gulf, the crossroads centre and the orchard country on a single sheet.

Crossroads centre
The town grew where routes along the coast met. Main roads still converge on the centre, which fits the meaning of its name.
Citrus plain
Orange groves fill the flat land around the town in a patchwork of small plots and tracks before the ground rises into the Amanos foothills.
