Colonial block grid
Square blocks of near-equal size fill the town in a regular pattern, centred on a main plaza, which gives the map an almost architectural precision.

Dolores Map Poster & Print
Dolores is a town in Soriano Department in western Uruguay, on the San Salvador River not far from where it reaches the Río Uruguay. From above it is a clean checkerboard of square blocks in the classic Spanish-American plan, with a central plaza and streets running straight out to the surrounding farmland.
The town serves one of the country's most productive agricultural areas, and grain handling and farm roads fan out beyond its edges. In April 2016 a tornado struck Dolores and destroyed much of the town. It was one of the most severe weather disasters in Uruguay's recent history, and rebuilding followed over the next years.
A Dolores map poster highlights the clarity of that grid: even blocks, a river curving past one side, and the field boundaries of the pampa-like countryside beyond. It is a restrained, orderly image that fits the calm of a small Uruguayan town and the persistence of the people who rebuilt it.

San Salvador River
The river winds past the town on its way toward the Río Uruguay, a soft curve that contrasts with the straight lines of the streets.
Farmland beyond
Outside the grid, rural roads and field lines extend across open agricultural land, showing the countryside the town has always served.

Warum Dolores
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Dolores means home to many people who have moved to Montevideo or abroad. A map of its plaza and blocks keeps that home close, and it can also mark the town's recovery after 2016.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a street or a family year, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. A framed matte print or high-resolution files to print locally are both available.
