Garden-city layout
Curving streets and generous green spaces give Ifrane a loose, rounded street pattern, laid out as a mountain resort rather than as a traditional walled town.

Ifrane Map Poster & Print
Ifrane stands at around 1,650 metres in the Middle Atlas, and its map looks unlike most Moroccan towns. Instead of a dense medina, the streets curve gently through wooded ground, with houses set in gardens and roads following the slope. The town was laid out by the French in the late 1920s and 1930s as a mountain resort, and its plan still reflects that garden-city idea.
The architecture follows the same logic, with steep roofs designed for snow, which is why Ifrane is often compared to an Alpine village. The town is associated with cold winters, and a temperature of minus 23 degrees Celsius recorded here in 1935 is often cited as Africa's lowest. Around the town, cedar forests of the Ifrane National Park stretch in every direction.
An Ifrane map poster shows the town's softer geometry: winding lanes, green spaces, the campus of Al Akhawayn University and the forest pressing in at the edges. It is a small place with a distinct character, and the map shows how carefully that character was planned into the streets themselves.

Al Akhawayn campus
The university campus, opened in 1995, occupies a clearly defined area of the map with its own internal paths and buildings set among trees.
Forest edge
Beyond the last streets, the cedar and oak forests of the Middle Atlas surround the town, leaving wide empty space around a compact, carefully planned settlement.

Warum Ifrane
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Ifrane holds a special place for Al Akhawayn graduates, for families who spent winter holidays in the snow, and for anyone who has walked through the cedar forests nearby. The map records a town that feels like a retreat.
You can add a graduation year, a name or a short phrase to the title and subtitle, and edit the coordinates line. Among the five styles, Paper and Sand bring warmth to the forest setting, while Noir makes the curving streets stand out sharply.
