Die Karte
Itaeté Map Poster & Print
Itaeté is a municipality in the interior of Bahia, on the edge of the Chapada Diamantina, a region of table-top mountains, canyons and caves. The municipality is known for the Poço Encantado, a flooded cave whose clear blue water lights up when sunlight shines in through an opening in the rock at certain times of year.
The town itself is compact. Its streets form a small, fairly regular grid of blocks, from which a few roads lead out into the surrounding countryside. Beyond the edges, the landscape opens into dry scrubland, farmland and rough terrain, crossed only by long rural tracks.
An Itaeté map poster sets a neat town grid against a big, open landscape. The compact block pattern in the centre contrasts with the sparse lines running out towards the plateaus. For visitors who came for the caves, it's a quiet record of a place at the start of the Chapada.

Compact grid
The town centre forms a small, tidy grid of blocks. It's a clear, legible shape at the heart of the poster.
Roads into the Chapada
A few long roads leave town towards the plateaus and caves. They cross wide, open land that gives the map a sense of scale.
