Valley streets
The town's densest streets follow the valley floor, forming a narrow, elongated core that bends with the terrain instead of spreading into a square grid.

Jiulongshan Map Poster & Print
Jiulongshan lies in the northeast of Chongqing Municipality, in the steep, folded country north of the Yangtze that leads toward the Three Gorges region. The name means Nine Dragon Mountain, and the terrain lives up to it: ridges and hills crowd around the town, and almost every street on the map has been shaped by the need to find flat ground among them.
From above, the built area forms irregular clusters and ribbons, following valley floors and the lower slopes, with denser blocks where the land allows and scattered buildings climbing the hillsides. Roads curve sharply as they rise and fall, and small streams occupy the low points. Around the town, the slopes are cut into fields and terraces, their edges traced by winding paths.
A Jiulongshan map poster shows a place defined by relief rather than by planning. Its lines are curved and uneven, pressed into the spaces the mountains leave, and the empty areas between them are as important as the streets. The effect in black and white is calm and sculptural, a fitting portrait for anyone with family in this part of Chongqing.

Winding mountain roads
Roads leaving the town climb and descend in curves and hairpins, drawing looping lines that reveal the steepness of the surrounding hills even without contour shading.
Terraced slopes
Farm terraces and footpaths wrap around the hillsides beyond the town in the manner typical of rural Chongqing, adding faint, layered lines that soften the edges of the map.
