Straight irrigation canals and drainage channels radiate from the city across the delta, dividing the land into long plots and forming the map's strongest lines.

Kafr ash Shaykh Map Poster & Print
Kafr ash Shaykh lies in the northern Nile Delta, roughly between the Rosetta and Damietta branches of the Nile, and is the capital of the governorate of the same name. On a map it sits within an intensely farmed, perfectly flat landscape, where canals and drainage channels divide the fields into long rectangular plots and villages are spread across the plain.
The city is a regional centre for agriculture, trade and administration, and has a large university. North of the city, the delta reaches Lake Burullus, a broad coastal lagoon separated from the Mediterranean by a narrow strip of land, an important site for fishing and migratory birds.
A Kafr ash Shaykh map poster brings the order of the delta into view. The city's streets gather around a dense centre, while canals run straight out into the countryside, drawing clear parallel lines. In black and white, the geometry of fields and waterways gives the design a calm, measured quality.

Flat delta plain
The land around the city is completely level, so roads and waterways run straight for long distances, creating a regular, grid-like rural pattern.
Toward Lake Burullus
North of the city, the delta opens toward Lake Burullus, a large coastal lagoon whose shallow waters and marshes mark the transition to the Mediterranean shore.
