Seibu Shinjuku Line
The commuter railway runs through the district in a long, straight line. It is the clearest single feature on the map, and the streets are arranged around the station.

Kamiigusa Map Poster & Print
Kamiigusa is a residential district in Suginami, in the western wards of Tokyo. It grew up around a station on the Seibu Shinjuku Line, and the railway still sets the pattern of the area. A straight track crosses the map, and around it spreads a dense, irregular mesh of narrow lanes, small houses, apartment blocks and the occasional temple or school ground.
The neighbourhood is closely tied to Japanese animation. Suginami has long been home to many anime studios, and Kamiigusa has the Suginami Animation Museum and a Gundam statue near its station. It marks one of the studios that worked here. For a quiet part of the city, it has a surprisingly wide recognition among fans.
A Kamiigusa map poster captures the texture of residential Tokyo at close range. It has no grand boulevards. Instead there are hundreds of short streets that bend, branch and end in cul-de-sacs, and the pattern looks almost organic at print size. The railway line and a few larger roads give the drawing a spine. Everything else is fine detail.

Lane network
Narrow, irregular residential lanes fill the district. On paper they form a dense, lace-like pattern typical of Tokyo's older suburbs.
Animation heritage
The Suginami Animation Museum and the Gundam statue near the station link this ordinary neighbourhood to the history of Japanese anime.

Warum Kamiigusa
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
For anyone who has lived in western Tokyo, or who came to Kamiigusa because of its animation history, this map shows a very specific kind of city life. It holds the walk to the station, the small shops and the lanes that only locals use.
Add your own title in Latin script, a subtitle such as a move-in date, and the coordinates of your old apartment. Five styles are available. Noir suits Tokyo's density at night, and Paper keeps the print light and understated.
