Die Karte
Kimilili Map Poster & Print
Kimilili is a town in Bungoma County in western Kenya, on the lower slopes of Mount Elgon near the border with Uganda. From above, the town is a compact centre of streets where several roads meet, surrounded by small farms that cover the rising ground in a fine, irregular patchwork.
The surrounding country is fertile and closely settled, and farming shapes both the landscape and the town's role as a local market centre. On a map, the roads out of Kimilili lead toward the mountain and the neighbouring towns of the county, while streams running off the slopes add thin, winding lines between the fields.
A Kimilili map poster captures a working highland town rather than a grand city. The dense centre gives the composition its weight, and the lines of roads and streams spread out around it like a web. In black and white it becomes a quiet, detailed image of a place set against a large mountain.
