Manga Map Poster & Print
Manga lies in the far north of Minas Gerais, close to the border with Bahia, on the banks of the São Francisco river. The river is the dominant feature of the map: wide, braided in places, with sandbanks and islands that change with the seasons. The town sits beside it on a regular grid of streets, the blocks ending where the floodplain begins.
The São Francisco, often called the river of national integration, has shaped settlement in this dry sertão region for centuries, carrying people and goods between Minas Gerais and the northeast. Around Manga, the land is semi-arid, with farmland and cerrado vegetation stretching away from the river's greener banks.
A Manga map poster sets the orderly town grid against the loose, flowing forms of the river. Channels, islands and lagoons provide soft shapes on one side, and straight streets fill the other. The composition is simple and balanced, and it shows clearly how a town in the interior of Brazil depends on the water beside it.

A regular grid
The town is laid out on a simple grid of streets and blocks, giving the built area a neat, geometric contrast to the river.
The floodplain edge
Between town and river, low ground and lagoons mark where the water rises seasonally, adding irregular detail along the shore.
