Mariveles Map Poster & Print
Mariveles sits at the southern tip of the Bataan Peninsula, facing the entrance to Manila Bay, with Corregidor lying offshore. From above, the town curves around a sheltered bay. Behind it, the land rises steeply towards Mount Mariveles, the dormant volcano that forms the southern bulk of the peninsula.
The town has a significant place in Philippine history. In 1942 the Bataan Death March began in Mariveles, and markers along the route still record the distance walked by the prisoners. Today much of the waterfront is taken up by the Freeport Area of Bataan, an industrial and export zone.
A Mariveles map poster brings out the strong interplay between coastline and mountain. The town and port facilities form a compact band along the water, while roads climbing inland follow the terrain. In monochrome, the bay's outline gives the composition a natural centre.

Freeport waterfront
Industrial and port areas of the Freeport Area of Bataan line the coast, adding larger, more geometric blocks and piers to the waterfront.
Volcanic slopes
Mount Mariveles rises directly behind the town. Streets end where the slopes begin, and the few roads that continue inland follow winding lines.

Warum Mariveles
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Mariveles means different things to different people: a hometown, a workplace in the freeport, or a place of remembrance for the events of 1942. A clear map of the bay and its streets respects all of these connections.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a date that matters to you. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
