Strait with Buton
A narrow channel runs between Muna and Buton along the east side, so tight in places that the two coastlines seem to fit together like pieces of a puzzle.

Muna Island Map Poster & Print
Muna lies off the southeastern arm of Sulawesi, in Indonesia's Southeast Sulawesi province, directly west of Buton. It is a large island, close to three thousand square kilometres, and much of it is low limestone country covered with forest, farmland and teak rather than high mountains, so the interior on a map feels wide and even.
The most striking feature is the eastern shore, where a narrow strait separates Muna from Buton so closely that the two islands almost read as one. Raha, the largest town, sits on the northeast coast facing this passage, and roads lead from it toward villages across the interior and down the western side of the island.
Caves on the island hold ancient rock paintings, among them those at Liang Kobori, an important site for the study of Indonesian prehistory. A Muna Island map poster does not attempt that depth; it offers the outline, the strait and the thin road network, a calm portrait of a place that is rarely seen hanging on a wall.

Raha town
The main town on the northeast coast gathers the island's densest streets and its harbour, with roads leading inland from it across the low country.
Wide limestone interior
Much of the island is gently rolling karst with forest and plantations, drawn as broad open ground crossed by a modest web of rural roads.

Warum Muna Island
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Muna makes sense for people from Southeast Sulawesi, for those living far away who want a map of home, and for travellers who arrived by boat from Kendari. Its paired outline with Buton gives the composition a distinctive, interlocking shape.
Put a family name or home village in the title, add a subtitle and a date or the coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the wide waters around the island especially well.
