Planned boulevards
Wide, straight avenues divide the city into large, regular districts. This gives the map a strong grid that reflects Navoiy’s mid-twentieth-century origins.

Navoiy Map Poster & Print
Navoiy was founded in 1958 as a planned industrial city in the Zarafshan River valley in central Uzbekistan. From above, the planning is easy to see: wide, straight boulevards, large regular residential districts, generous green strips, and industrial zones set apart from the housing. North of the city, irrigated land gives way to the dry expanse of the Kyzylkum desert.
The city is named after Alisher Navoi, the fifteenth-century poet who shaped Chagatai literature. It grew as the base of a large mining and metallurgical company that is known for its gold production. Navoiy also hosts a free economic zone linked to its international airport, and the older settlement of Karmana lies next to it.
A Navoiy map poster brings out the clarity of a city drawn on a clean slate. Long avenues form a strong grid, the Zarafshan and its irrigation canals trace softer lines to the south, and the open desert beyond gives the composition a lot of empty space. The result is clean, calm and very graphic.

Zarafshan valley
The Zarafshan River and its irrigation canals run through the land south of the city and add curving, organic lines to the planned grid.
Karmana nearby
The old town of Karmana, with its earlier and more irregular street pattern, sits next to the planned city and shows two eras side by side.
