The Portara causeway
A thin line connects Chora to the islet of Palatia, where the marble gateway of an unfinished temple frames the sea. It is a small mark on the island's west edge, and one you cannot mistake.

Naxos Island Map Poster & Print
Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades, and on a map it looks sturdier than its neighbours: a wide, rounded shape with a mountain range down its centre. Mount Zas, the highest peak in the Cyclades at just over a thousand metres, anchors the interior. Roads loop around it through scattered hill villages and fertile valleys.
Chora, the main town, is on the west coast. The old Venetian Kastro sits on a low hill, and the lanes below wind down to the harbour in a tight, irregular pattern. Just to the north, a short causeway leads to the islet of Palatia and the Portara, the great marble doorway of an unfinished temple begun in the sixth century BC.
South of Chora, the west coast is a long run of sandy beaches, while the east is steeper and has fewer settlements. In Greek myth, Naxos is where Theseus left Ariadne. A Naxos Island map poster keeps the whole island in view: the mountainous centre, the western beaches and the single causeway out to the Portara.

Chora's Kastro
The Venetian castle quarter sits on the hill above the harbour. Its lanes form a ring of tightly packed blocks that stands out against the looser streets around it.
Mount Zas
The highest summit in the Cyclades rises near the centre of the island and pulls the contour lines into a dense knot. Small roads skirt its lower slopes.

Warum Naxos Island
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Naxos appeals to people who know it beyond the harbour: those who walked to the mountain villages, spent summers on the western beaches or watched the sun set behind the Portara. The map gives shape to all of it without clutter.
You can add your own title, a village name as the subtitle, and a date or coordinates, then choose one of five styles. The $9 digital download includes six print sizes, from A3 to 24×36 inches, each as a 300 DPI PNG and a print-ready PDF without a watermark.
