Panama City Map Poster & Print
Panama City stretches along the Bay of Panama on the Pacific side of the isthmus. From above, the city is long and thin: a crescent of coast with a coastal road, towers packed onto the points of Punta Paitilla and Punta Pacífica, and dense neighbourhoods reaching inland. To the west, the Panama Canal meets the ocean beneath the Bridge of the Americas.
The city was founded in 1519 as the first European city on the Pacific coast of the Americas. After pirates led by Henry Morgan sacked the original settlement in 1671, it was rebuilt a few kilometres away on a small peninsula, today's Casco Viejo. The ruins of Panamá Viejo and the historic district are both UNESCO World Heritage sites.
A Panama City map poster brings three eras together on one sheet: the ruins to the east, the colonial peninsula to the west and the modern towers in between. The Amador Causeway runs out into the bay toward a string of small islands. Ancon Hill rises as an open space beside the former Canal Zone.

Cinta Costera
This coastal road runs along reclaimed land beside the bay. It links the old town with the modern districts in a smooth curve along the shore.
Amador Causeway
Built with rock dug out for the canal, the causeway reaches from the mainland across the water to link several small islands. On the map it is a thin line pointing out into the Pacific.
