It serves as a market centre for the surrounding villages, and its map shows a compact, irregular core of lanes and bazaar streets, with newer building spreading out along the main roads that connect it to the wider district.
The land around the town is mostly open farmland, cut by village roads and cart tracks, with tanks and small reservoirs that fill during the monsoon.
