Pitcairn Island Map Poster & Print
Pitcairn Island lies far out in the South Pacific, one of the most remote inhabited places in the world. On a map it is a small, rounded volcanic island with steep sides and cliffs dropping to the sea. There is no natural harbour and no airstrip, and the coastline is almost entirely rock, broken by a few narrow coves.
Adamstown, the only settlement, sits on the northern slopes above Bounty Bay, where the island's landing is located. Supplies and visitors have long been brought ashore by longboat. From the village a few roads and tracks wind across the steep interior, and these are the only lines on an otherwise compact map.
Pitcairn was settled in 1790 by mutineers from HMS Bounty and the Tahitians who came with them, and many residents today descend from that group. It is a British Overseas Territory with a population of only a few dozen. A Pitcairn Island map poster shows the whole island at once, a small shape that carries a famous story.

The only settlement, set on the slopes above the landing. Its handful of roads and paths make up nearly all the map's detail.
Cliff-bound coast
Steep cliffs surround most of the island, giving it a clean, rounded outline with few bays and no easy shoreline.
