Die Karte
Ploieşti Map Poster & Print
Ploieşti lies on a flat plain in Prahova county, about sixty kilometres north of Bucharest, where the land starts to rise toward the Carpathian foothills. From above the city has a clear radial structure. Main roads converge on a central area, a ring of boulevards encircles the core, and residential districts spread outward in every direction.
The city has been the centre of Romania's oil industry since the nineteenth century. Refineries on the outskirts form large, regular grids of tanks, pipes and service roads, very different from the residential streets. Ploieşti is also known for its clock museum, one of the more unusual collections in the country.
A Ploieşti map poster shows a city with two distinct characters. There is the radial historic centre with its boulevards, and on the edges the engineered geometry of the industrial zones. Railway lines and highways add more straight strokes. It is a map that rewards close looking, with clear structure and unexpected contrasts.

Ring of boulevards
A loop of wide boulevards encircles the core. It separates the older centre from the later residential districts and gives the poster a clear inner frame.
Refinery grids
On the outskirts, oil refineries appear as regular grids of tanks and internal roads. They are an industrial pattern unlike anything else in the city.
