Columbia riverfront
The wide Columbia forms the city's eastern edge, with green parkland along much of the shore. It is the strongest, straightest element on the map.

Die Karte
Richland Map Poster & Print
Richland is one of the Tri-Cities in south-central Washington. It sits on the west bank of the Columbia River, where the Yakima River flows into it. The broad Columbia runs down the eastern edge of the map, and the Yakima meets it from the west with a web of channels and islands at the confluence.
The modern city was largely built by the federal government in the 1940s to house workers at the Hanford Site, part of the Manhattan Project. Many of the standard house designs from that period, known locally by letters of the alphabet, still line its older streets. Today the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is based in the city.
A Richland map poster shows a planned town on open land. Its tidy older neighbourhoods are next to long riverfront parks, and newer growth spreads out across the dry plain. Two rivers set the frame, and the steppe around the town leaves the design plenty of calm space.

Yakima confluence
On the south side, the Yakima meets the Columbia through braided channels and wetlands. This makes the most intricate natural patch on the poster.
Wartime street plan
The older neighbourhoods keep the simple street layouts built for Hanford workers. They are laid out as a regular, orderly grid of modest blocks.

Warum Richland
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Richland is where many scientists, engineers and their families put down roots. For them and their children, a map of the town is both a picture of home and a reminder of an unusual chapter in American history.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, and choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits a town built around science and engineering particularly well.
