Şalālah Map Poster & Print
Şalālah lies on a narrow coastal plain in southern Oman, between the Arabian Sea and the Dhofar mountains. From above, the city stretches along the shore in a long, low band. Coconut and banana plantations cover the land between the town and the beach, and the ridge of Jabal Qara rises behind it, cutting the city off from the desert to the north.
Every summer the khareef monsoon brings mist and drizzle to the mountains, turning the slopes green while most of Arabia is at its hottest. The coast has long been part of the frankincense trade. The ruins of Al Baleed, a medieval port, sit on the shoreline and are part of the UNESCO-listed Land of Frankincense.
A Şalālah map poster follows this layered layout: sea, beach, plantations, then the city grid and the mountains. To the west, the deep-water Port of Salalah at Raysut adds breakwaters and container quays. The palace district and the wide boulevards of the newer quarters stand out from the smaller plots in the older neighbourhoods.

Al Baleed
The archaeological park of the old frankincense port sits right on the shore, a compact site between the lagoon and the sea within the modern city.
Port at Raysut
West of the centre, the container port’s breakwaters and straight quays reach into the sea, a sharp geometric shape at the edge of the plain.

Warum Şalālah
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Şalālah is a birthplace, a monsoon-season retreat and, for many Omanis, a second home. A map of the coast, plantations and mountains keeps the feeling of the khareef on the wall all year.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example with a family name or the year of a first khareef visit. Pick from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Sand suits the coastal plain.
