Sant Celoni lies in the Vallès Oriental comarca of Catalonia, in the valley of the Tordera river, between Barcelona and Girona. To the northwest rise the slopes of the Montseny massif, a protected natural park, and to the southeast the Montnegre hills. On a map the town fills the valley floor, with the river, the railway and main roads running through it side by side.
The historic centre keeps a compact older layout of narrow streets. Sant Celoni is a gateway to Montseny, and many walkers begin their routes into the mountains from here. The town also earned a place in Catalan cuisine through El Racó de Can Fabes, the restaurant of chef Santi Santamaria, which gained international recognition while it operated here.
