Santa Rita Map Poster & Print
Santa Rita lies on the Maranhão mainland, south of the island of São Luís, in low country crossed by rivers and wetlands flowing toward the Atlantic bays. From above the town looks modest and practical. Its streets form a loose grid alongside the main highway that links the state capital with the interior, and the built area thins quickly into fields, scrub and water.
Like many towns in this part of Maranhão, Santa Rita is closely tied to the road that passes through it. The highway brings trade and travellers, and much of the town's layout follows that line. Around it, the landscape is shaped by the wet and dry seasons, and rivers and marshy ground become more visible during the rainy months.
A Santa Rita map poster reduces this to its essentials: the firm line of the highway, the small grid of streets beside it and the looser shapes of the waterways and open land. It is an understated print for a place that does not often get one, and it means most to the people who live there or grew up there.

Compact grid
Santa Rita's residential streets form a small, fairly regular grid that stands out clearly against the surrounding open land.
Low wet country
Rivers and marshy ground in the area give the edges of the print soft, irregular shapes that contrast with the straight town streets.
