Stromboli Map Poster & Print
Stromboli is one of the Aeolian Islands, north of Sicily, and it is almost entirely one active volcano. From above it is nearly circular, a cone that rises straight out of the sea. There is little flat ground, and the two settlements sit at the coast: the main village on the northeastern shore and tiny Ginostra on the southwest, long reachable mainly by sea.
The volcano has been erupting in small, regular bursts for a very long time. Sailors once called it the Lighthouse of the Mediterranean because the glow could be seen from far offshore at night. On the northwestern flank, the Sciara del Fuoco is a steep slide of dark volcanic debris that runs from near the summit to the water.
A Stromboli map poster is simple and bold: a round coastline, a few lanes and paths, and the empty slopes of the cone. Just off the northeastern coast stands Strombolicchio, a small rock with a lighthouse, the remains of an older volcanic neck. The word strombolian is used by volcanologists around the world to describe this island's style of eruption.

Village lanes
Narrow lanes and white houses gather along the northeastern shore, the only substantial settlement on an island otherwise taken up by the volcano.
Strombolicchio
A small, steep rock just offshore to the northeast, topped by a lighthouse. It sits as a small point beside the island's round outline.

Warum Stromboli
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Stromboli attracts people who have climbed to its crater at dusk or watched the eruptions from a boat. Its round form and single village make one of the most graphic island prints, clear from across the room.
Personalise the title and subtitle, and set the coordinates line to the summit or the harbour. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
