Sydney Harbour
The wide, sheltered harbour and its arms give the print a strong shape. Water reaches deep inland on several sides of the town.

Sydney Map Poster & Print
Sydney sits on the eastern side of Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, along the South Arm of Sydney Harbour. On the map, the harbour dominates: a large sheltered inlet opening to the Atlantic, with arms that reach inland. The town's streets are laid out along its southern shore.
The older part of town, known as the North End, occupies a small peninsula with a grid of historic streets and some of the oldest buildings in Cape Breton. Sydney was founded in 1785 by Loyalist settlers and was capital of the separate colony of Cape Breton until 1820. Residential districts spread south and east over gently rolling ground.
For most of the twentieth century Sydney was a steel town. The site of the former works and the Tar Ponds has since been cleaned up and turned into Open Hearth Park. A Sydney map poster shows harbour, historic grid and reclaimed land together.

North End peninsula
The historic North End sits on a small point of land with a compact street grid, one of the oldest urban areas on Cape Breton Island.
Open Hearth Park
The former steel plant and Tar Ponds site is now a large park. On the map it is an open green space where heavy industry once stood.

Warum Sydney
Eine Karte mit Bedeutung
Sydney means different things to different people: steelworker family history, a harbour home, the start of a trip around Cape Breton. A map holds the whole shoreline and the neighbourhoods behind it in one frame.
Add a title, subtitle and coordinates line, with Nova Scotia or Cape Breton in the subtitle to avoid confusion with the Australian Sydney, and choose one of five styles. Blueprint suits the harbour well.
