Rio das Velhas
The river runs past the town on its way north, giving the map a long, natural line that contrasts with the straight streets of the urban area.

Várzea da Palma Map Poster & Print
Várzea da Palma sits in northern Minas Gerais on the lowlands of the Rio das Velhas, a river that flows north through the state before joining the São Francisco. The town itself spreads in a loose grid on relatively flat ground, while the water and its floodplain shape the landscape around it. The name itself refers to the várzea, the low land beside a river.
Within the municipality lies Barra do Guaicuí, the old settlement at the confluence of the two rivers, known for the stone ruins of an unfinished colonial church. That meeting of waters is one of the most recognisable geographic points in the region, and it gives the wider area a history that runs back to river travel in the colonial interior.
A Várzea da Palma map poster pairs a regular town grid with the curve of a major river. The streets provide structure, the water supplies movement, and the surrounding cerrado country leaves generous open space. It is a composition that feels calm, with a clear sense of place in the heart of Brazil.
