The waterfront
Virac's shoreline curves along the bay on the island's south coast. On the print, the coast forms a strong edge, with the port breaking the line where boats come in.

Virac Map Poster & Print
Virac is the capital of Catanduanes, an island province in the Bicol Region of the Philippines, facing the Pacific. The town is on the island's southern coast, and from above its centre is a compact grid of streets beside the water, with a port and a shoreline that curves along the bay. Behind it, the land rises into hills, and the streets quickly give way to roads following valleys.
Catanduanes is often called the Land of the Howling Winds, because it lies directly in the path of many Pacific typhoons. The island is also known for abaca, the fibre crop grown on its slopes. Virac is its main gateway, with an airport and a seaport connecting it to the mainland of Luzon.
A Virac map poster places the town between two edges: the coastline in front and the hills behind. The grid of the centre, the line of the waterfront and the roads spreading into the interior all show up clearly. It is a small, focused map of an island town that faces the open ocean.

Town centre grid
Close to the water, streets form a tight grid around the town's civic core, the densest and most orderly part of the map.
Roads inland
From the centre, roads lead up into the hills of Catanduanes, turning into thinner, winding lines as the land rises behind the town.
