São Francisco River
The broad river runs past the town with its islands and sandbars, taking up a large part of the frame and giving the print its main shape.

Abaré Map Poster & Print
Abaré is a town in the north of Bahia, in the Brazilian sertão, on the right bank of the São Francisco River. The region is semi-arid and covered in caatinga, dry scrubland, and the river is the element that makes life and farming possible here.
On the map the São Francisco dominates: a wide river with sandbars and islands, running along the edge of town. The streets form a compact grid close to the water, with a few roads leading away across the dry landscape towards neighbouring towns. Beyond them the land opens out into long, quiet space.
The São Francisco is one of Brazil's great rivers, and towns like Abaré depend on it for water, fishing and irrigated farming. An Abaré map poster shows that dependence clearly: a small grid pressed against a broad river, surrounded by the open sertão.

Riverside grid
The town's streets form a compact grid near the water, a dense, ordered patch set against the open landscape.
Open sertão
Beyond the town, the dry caatinga stretches out with only a few roads crossing it. On the poster it becomes calm white space.
