Achampet is a town in Nagarkurnool district in southern Telangana. It lies on the Deccan plateau, near the edge of the Nallamala forest. On a map, the town forms a compact cluster of streets around a few intersecting roads, surrounded by farmland, water tanks and scattered villages. To the south and east the terrain becomes wilder and more wooded.
The town serves as a gateway to the Nallamala forest, including the Amrabad Tiger Reserve, and lies on the route toward the Srisailam temple on the Krishna River. Traffic heading to both passes through, and the main roads leading out of Achampet form the clearest lines on the map.
