Irrigation canals
Long, straight canals and drains cross the landscape in parallel lines. They give the map the strong sense of direction that is typical of the northeastern delta.

Al Jammālīyah Map Poster & Print
Al Jammālīyah lies in Dakahlia, in the northeastern Nile Delta, not far from the wide lagoon of Lake Manzala. The land is almost perfectly flat, and on a map it is organised by water. Irrigation canals and drains cut long straight lines through the farmland, and the town's own streets tend to run in the same directions as the channels around them.
The built area is dense at the centre and thins quickly into fields, so the town's outline stands out sharply against the pattern of plots around it. Villages and hamlets sit along the same canals. The roads that link them usually run on the embankments beside the water, not across open ground, which repeats the delta's geometry again and again.
An Al Jammālīyah map poster turns this farming landscape into something close to an abstract drawing: a knot of tight streets, parallel channels leading away from it, and the slightly frayed edge where cultivated land begins to give way to marsh and lagoon further north. It is a quiet, graphic portrait of a working delta town.

Dense town core
Closely packed streets and short lanes form a dark, compact mass at the centre. It contrasts with the open, evenly divided fields that surround the town on every side.
Toward Lake Manzala
North of the town, the farmland approaches Lake Manzala, one of the largest lakes of the Nile Delta. There, land and water gradually blur into marsh and open lagoon.
