Al Waqf Map Poster & Print
Al Waqf is a town in the Qena governorate of Upper Egypt, lying in the Nile valley. The map shows the defining structure of this part of Egypt: a river bordered by a narrow band of cultivated land, with the desert beginning abruptly on either side. The town sits within that fertile strip, its streets packed close together.
Life here follows the river and the fields, as it has along this stretch of the Nile for thousands of years. Roads and canals run parallel to the water, and smaller lanes connect the town to surrounding villages. Beyond the cultivated land, the map turns almost blank, marking the edge of the desert.
An Al Waqf map poster is striking for its contrasts. The dense town, the fine web of field paths and irrigation channels, the broad river and the empty desert beyond combine into a composition that reads almost like a diagram of the Nile valley itself, drawn in simple black lines.

Cultivated strip
A narrow belt of farmland lines the river. Field boundaries and irrigation channels give this part of the map a fine, detailed pattern.
Desert edge
Past the fields the settlement stops and the desert begins. The sudden shift from dense lines to open space gives the print a clear, dramatic border.
