River junction
Rivers meet in and around the town and give it its basic shape. Their curves and bends are the strongest lines on the map, and most streets are set in relation to them.

Amuntai Map Poster & Print
Amuntai is the main town of Hulu Sungai Utara regency in South Kalimantan, and water shapes it more than anything else. Rivers meet here, and the surrounding land is low and often flooded, with swamps and seasonal wetlands. On a map the town looks like a set of streets pressed along the rivers.
Many settlements in the area grew along the banks, with houses and roads lining the water and fields and marshes behind them. The regency is also known for the Alabio duck, a local breed raised in the wetlands, which has become part of the district's identity.
An Amuntai map poster shows a town built around rivers rather than a single square or grid. The river curves give the poster its structure. Roads follow the banks, bridges link the two sides, and the wetland beyond appears as quiet, open space surrounding the built-up area.

Bank-side streets
Roads and houses line the rivers in long, narrow strips. This makes the town look drawn out along the water rather than gathered around one centre.
Wetland margins
Beyond the streets lie low swamps and seasonally flooded land. On the poster they appear as wide open space that separates Amuntai from its neighbours.
