Ocean shoreline
The Gulf of Guinea coast forms a long, nearly straight edge along the town, a strong line that anchors the whole poster.

Aného Map Poster & Print
Aného lies on the coast of Togo, close to the border with Benin. From above, the town sits on a narrow strip of land between the Atlantic surf of the Gulf of Guinea and a lagoon behind it. The streets stretch along this strip, a bridge crosses the water, and the shape of the town comes from the shoreline and the lagoon edge.
Aného is one of Togo's oldest towns and was an early centre of the colonial administration before the capital moved to Lomé. It is the home of the Guin people and hosts the Epe Ekpe festival, a yearly traditional ceremony that draws visitors from across the region. Colonial-era buildings and churches still stand in parts of the town.
An Aného map poster is shaped by water on two sides. The ocean coastline makes one long, clean edge, the lagoon draws a softer, irregular line inland, and the streets fill the band between them. It is an unusual and graphic outline, and in black and white it has the look of a drawing.

Lagoon behind
Inland, the lagoon gives the town its other boundary. Its uneven shore contrasts with the sea edge and shapes where the streets can go.
Strip-shaped town
Squeezed between the two waters, the town extends along the coast, so its streets form a narrow band rather than a round cluster.

Aného suits people with family on the Togolese coast, those who have attended the Epe Ekpe festival, and travellers who have followed the coastal road toward Benin. The water on both sides makes for a striking outline.
