Arashiyama Map Poster & Print
Arashiyama is a district on the western edge of Kyoto, where the river known locally as the Ōi and downstream as the Katsura emerges from a wooded gorge onto the plain. On a map the river is the defining feature, a broad curve with the forested slopes of Arashiyama rising steeply on its southern side.
The Togetsukyō Bridge crosses the river here and has been the classic view of the district for centuries. To the north lie the grounds of Tenryū-ji, a Zen temple listed as part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto World Heritage Site, along with the famous bamboo grove paths and quiet temples scattered among the lanes.
An Arashiyama map poster balances water, hills and the fine grain of the old streets. The river and the mountains leave generous empty space, and the lanes of Saga to the north add delicate detail. It is one of the most balanced compositions in Kyoto.

River and gorge
The river flows out of the mountains through a narrow gorge before widening onto the plain. That gives the poster a graceful curving water line.
Temple grounds
Tenryū-ji and the surrounding temple precincts appear as large, quiet blocks, crossed by paths leading towards the well-known bamboo grove.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
Arashiyama is where many people remember autumn leaves, a first trip to Japan or a quiet morning among the bamboo. A black-and-white map keeps that memory elegant and understated.
Title it Arashiyama, Kyoto, or use a date and a line of your own, and adjust the coordinates if you like. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Paper suits the Kyoto mood particularly well.
