River-bound centre
The Tronto and the Castellano meet beside the old town and wrap around it on the north and east, giving it a clear, almost island-like outline.

Ascoli Piceno Map Poster & Print
Ascoli Piceno sits in the southern Marche, on a spur of land where the Castellano stream flows into the Tronto River. On a map the two watercourses almost encircle the historic centre, and the old town fills the space between them. Inside, the streets keep the traces of a Roman grid, bent and narrowed by the building that came after.
The centre is built largely from pale travertine and is often called the city of a hundred towers, after the medieval tower houses that once rose over it. Piazza del Popolo, paved in polished stone, is among Italy's best-known squares. A Roman bridge, the Ponte di Solestà, still crosses the Tronto, and each summer the city holds the Quintana, a costumed jousting festival.
An Ascoli Piceno map poster captures one of central Italy's most complete historic towns. The river bend, the bridges and the dense grid of lanes make a rich, precise design that holds up well at larger sizes. It suits people who know the Marche and anyone who loves Italian cities.

Roman street pattern
Beneath the medieval fabric, the grid of the Roman town still shows through the historic centre's streets, especially in the straighter main axes.
Ponte di Solestà
This Roman bridge crosses the Tronto on the northern side of the old town and still carries traffic nearly two thousand years later.
