The town occupies a valley floor enclosed by ridges. Its built area forms an elongated shape that follows the land rather than a regular square grid.

Bāneh Map Poster & Print
Bāneh lies in the west of Iran's Kurdistan Province, close to the border with Iraq, in a valley ringed by the ridges of the Zagros Mountains. The terrain shapes everything on the map. The town fills the valley floor and climbs the lower slopes, and its roads follow the contours in curves rather than straight lines, giving the street pattern an organic, stretched form.
The town is widely known as a trading centre, and its position near the border brings shoppers to its markets from across Iran. Most of its people are Kurdish. Beyond the edge of the built-up streets, the surrounding mountains, oak woodland and villages give the area a strongly rural setting.
A Bāneh map poster shows the town as it sits in its valley: the dense market streets at the centre, residential neighbourhoods spreading up the slopes, and winding roads leading out through the mountains. It is a meaningful piece for Kurdish families, and for anyone who knows the town from its bazaars.

Market streets
The commercial centre, known for its many shops and markets, is the densest part of the map, a compact web of streets near the middle of town.
Mountain roads
Roads leave Bāneh in long, curving lines as they wind through the Zagros slopes. They give the edges of the poster a flowing, looping character.
