Beckenham lies in the London Borough of Bromley, in the south-east of Greater London. Its map is a classic suburban pattern: winding residential roads, crescents and cul-de-sacs laid out around a high street, with several railway lines crossing the area and meeting at junctions. Large green spaces break up the housing, and small streams run through them.
Two parks stand out on the map. Kelsey Park, near the town centre, holds a lake among its trees, and Beckenham Place Park to the north is one of the larger green spaces in south London, now known for its swimming lake. The tram network ends at Beckenham Junction, linking the suburb to Croydon.
