Boende Map Poster & Print
Boende is the capital of Tshuapa Province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and it lies on the Tshuapa River deep within the equatorial forest. From above, the town appears as a modest opening in the green, with its streets reaching back from the riverbank and the water curving past on its slow way toward the Congo.
The river has long been the main route in and out, and the waterfront is where boats and trade meet the town. An airstrip gives another link to the rest of the country, and on the map its straight line contrasts with the soft, winding shapes of the river and forest tracks.
A Boende map poster is about proportion: a small, carefully drawn town in a vast landscape of river and forest. The meanders of the Tshuapa, the modest grid and the few roads that head out into the trees form an unusual, quiet composition.

Forest clearing
The town occupies a clearing in the equatorial forest, and the edges where streets end and trees begin give the map a soft, irregular outline.
Airstrip line
The straight line of the airstrip stands out against the natural curves of river and forest, an important link for a remote provincial capital.
