Crossroads centre
The town's centre forms where its main routes meet. This is where the lines on the map come closest together before spreading out in different directions.

Chala Map Poster & Print
Chala is a town in the Rukwa region of south-western Tanzania, on the high country between Lake Rukwa and Lake Tanganyika. The map shows a compact settlement. A handful of main roads meet near the centre, and a looser mesh of tracks spreads out from there to homesteads and fields. Past the edge of town, the lines drop away quickly and the page opens into wide, empty ground.
That contrast between a dense centre and sparse surroundings is typical of towns across Rukwa. Settlement follows the roads, and farming fills the space in between. From above, Chala reads as a knot tied into a long line of travel, with short spurs reaching into the countryside.
A Chala map poster keeps this balance of dense and empty. Clear lines mark the through-roads, finer ones mark local tracks, and the white space around them shows how much open land surrounds the town. The result is a spare, calm image, well suited to a simple frame and a plain wall.

Farm tracks
Past the centre, thin tracks branch off toward homesteads and cultivated plots. They make a light, irregular pattern that fades gradually into the surrounding land.
Open plateau
Large blank areas around the town stand for the open country of Rukwa's highlands. They give the composition room and put the small settlement in the middle of its landscape.

A map of Chala suits anyone with a real tie to it: a childhood there, a posting with a school or clinic, or family still living in the region. Its sparse lines do not demand attention, but anyone who knows the town will recognise the way its roads come together.
