The ridge-top centre
The old town follows the crest of the hill in a long, thin band, and its streets are shaped by the ridge beneath them rather than by any planned grid.

Chieti Map Poster & Print
Chieti sits on a long, narrow ridge in Abruzzo, and the map shows this clearly. The historic centre runs along the top of the hill like a spine, with short side streets dropping away on both flanks. Below, the newer district of Chieti Scalo spreads across the flat floor of the Pescara river valley, which gives the city two very different textures on one sheet.
The city is one of the oldest in central Italy. As Teate it was the main town of the Marrucini, and later it became a Roman municipium. Remains of Roman temples and baths still sit within the upper town. On a map, the tightly packed blocks of the ridge contrast with the looser, more regular streets that grew in the valley during the twentieth century.
A Chieti map poster captures the relationship between hill and plain. Winding roads climb the slopes to link the two levels. The river and the motorway run through the valley towards the Adriatic, which lies only a short distance to the east. Home to a campus of the Gabriele d'Annunzio University, Chieti is a working city built on an ancient site.

In the valley, the lower district grew up around the railway station. It forms a flatter, more open pattern next to the Pescara river and the main transport routes.
Switchback connections
Curving roads climb the slopes between the upper and lower towns, drawing looping lines across the map that show how steep the hillside is.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
People hang Chieti for the view from its ridge, for years spent studying there, or for family roots in Abruzzo. The split between hilltop and valley makes a composition that works well on a wall, and you can read it at a glance even without knowing the city.
You can set the title, subtitle and coordinates line yourself, so it can mark a graduation year, a wedding or a family surname. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
