Comodoro Map Poster & Print
Comodoro is a municipality in the far west of Mato Grosso, in a region where the Cerrado savanna meets the southern edge of the Amazon forest, not far from the border with Bolivia. The town itself is the centre of a very large territory of ranches, farmland and remaining forest.
Like many towns founded during the settlement of Brazil's western frontier, Comodoro was laid out with a regular street grid, easily visible on the map as a neat block pattern surrounded by open country. Long highways cross the region, connecting it with other towns of Mato Grosso and Rondônia.
A Comodoro map poster shows a planned town in a vast landscape, its tidy grid contrasting with the irregular edges of fields, forest and rivers around it. It is a map of a frontier region that is still being shaped by farming and settlement.

Savanna meets forest
Comodoro lies where the Cerrado gives way to Amazon forest, so the surrounding map mixes open farmland with irregular patches of woodland and river corridors.
Western frontier
The municipality sits near the Bolivian border in the far west of Mato Grosso, crossed by long highways linking it to the rest of the region.
