Devadurga is a taluk headquarters in the Raichur district of northern Karnataka, on the broad, dry plateau of the Deccan. On a map the town appears as a compact knot of streets where several roads meet. The densest lanes are near the centre, and plots and newer buildings are spaced more loosely toward the outskirts.
The land around it is agricultural and largely flat, broken by the rocky outcrops that are common across this part of the Deccan.
