Ring of fortifications
Ramparts and moats form a green, watery loop around the old centre, drawing a clear boundary on the poster between the historic town and later growth.

Diest Map Poster & Print
Diest is a small town in Flemish Brabant built on the Demer river, and its map still shows the logic of a fortified place. A ring of old defences wraps around the centre, with green ramparts and water-filled ditches visible as a band of open space between the historic streets and the newer districts beyond. Inside, lanes converge on a central market square.
The Demer threads through the town, splitting and rejoining, and water features appear in several places around the fortifications. To the north and east the defences are especially clear, where nineteenth-century works were added to older walls. Diest also held historic ties to the House of Orange-Nassau, which once held the barony, a link still remembered in the town.
The best-known quarter is the beguinage, a walled enclave of small houses and narrow lanes that forms part of the Flemish beguinages listed by UNESCO. On a Diest map poster it appears as a tight, self-contained grid inside the larger town, a detail that rewards close looking and makes the composition unusually rich for its size.

The beguinage
A UNESCO-listed enclave of small houses and narrow lanes forms its own compact block within the town, visibly separate from the surrounding streets.
The Demer river
The river winds through the town and feeds the defensive water features, adding soft, curving lines against the straighter streets of the centre.

Diest is a place people become attached to on foot, walking the ramparts or the beguinage lanes. A map of it suits anyone who studied, married or grew up here, and it makes a thoughtful gift for someone who has left Flemish Brabant behind.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, perhaps with a wedding date or an address, and choose from five styles: Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the geometric outline of the fortifications particularly well.
