Dorchester Map Poster & Print
Dorchester is the largest neighbourhood of Boston, and one of its oldest, settled in 1630 before being annexed by the city in 1870. From above it has no single grid. Instead, streets meet at a series of squares and hills, each with its own pattern, which reflects a long history of separate villages growing together.
The area is known for its triple-deckers, three-storey wooden houses that line many streets. On a map they add up to a dense, fine-grained texture of small lots. The Red Line and main avenues cut through it from north to south.
To the east, Dorchester meets the harbour at Savin Hill and Columbia Point, home of the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library. The Neponset River marks its southern edge. A Dorchester map poster shows a neighbourhood as large and varied as many whole cities.

Neponset River
The river forms the neighbourhood's southern boundary, winding out into the bay through marshland. It gives the composition a soft, natural lower edge.
Village squares
Dorchester's streets radiate from many small squares and junctions rather than one centre. The result is a web of varied angles that rewards close looking.

Dorchester is where many Bostonians grew up, raised families or rented their first place. People identify with their part of it, whether Savin Hill, Fields Corner or Ashmont, and a map shows how all those places connect.
Add your own title, such as Dorchester or your street name, and write a year or address in the subtitle. Classic black and white suits the dense street pattern. Blueprint makes the shoreline sharp.
