Einsiedeln Map Poster & Print
Einsiedeln lies in the canton of Schwyz, in a high, open valley of central Switzerland. On a map, the town is organised around the Benedictine abbey, whose vast baroque complex and forecourt form a large, geometric block at the head of the main street, with the village spreading out below it.
For more than a thousand years, pilgrims have come here to visit the Black Madonna in the abbey church, and the town remains a stop on the Way of St. James. To the east lies the Sihlsee, a long reservoir created in the 1930s that fills much of the valley floor with its branching outline.
An Einsiedeln map poster combines these elements: the monumental abbey, the compact town and the expansive lake, with meadows and forested hillsides all around. The contrast between built form and open water gives the composition clarity and scale.
