El Bahay Map Poster & Print
El Bahay lies in the Somali Region of eastern Ethiopia, in the broad lowlands that stretch toward the border with Somalia. The climate is hot and dry for much of the year, and the landscape is mostly open scrub and grassland. On a map the settlement appears as a modest cluster of streets and buildings in a very wide expanse of empty country.
Life in much of the Somali Region has long been shaped by pastoralism, with herds of camels, goats and cattle moving between grazing areas and water sources as the seasons allow. Towns such as El Bahay serve as meeting points. The tracks linking them to wells, villages and neighbouring settlements are among the most important lines on the map.
Because the surrounding land is so sparsely built, the few roads and paths carry real visual weight in black and white. An El Bahay map poster is minimal by nature: a small, dense centre, lines radiating outward across the plain, and generous blank space that conveys the scale of the landscape.

Radiating tracks
Roads and tracks lead away from the settlement across the plain, connecting it to neighbouring villages, grazing areas and water sources in long, thin lines.
Open lowlands
Dry scrub and grassland stretch in every direction around the town, leaving wide empty areas on the print that give the design a spare, calm balance.

དོན་དག་ཡོད་པའི་ས་ཁྲ།
For Somali families from this part of Ethiopia, many of whom now live far away, a map of the home town is a rare and meaningful object. Its simple form makes it a respectful, understated piece for any room.
Add names, a date or a few words in Somali to the title and subtitle, and edit the coordinates line if needed. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the files or order a printed poster.
