Railway spine
The railway runs straight through the area as the town's main axis. The street grid lines up with it, a sign of how the settlement grew around the station.

Embi Map Poster & Print
Embi, also known as Emba, is a town in Aktobe Region in western Kazakhstan. It grew up on the railway that crosses the steppe between Orenburg and Central Asia. On a map the line of the tracks is the main feature, and the town's streets form a rectangular grid laid out alongside it.
The Emba River flows through the region toward the Caspian lowlands, and the town takes its name from it. The river leaves a meandering line across otherwise flat country. Beyond the edge of town the steppe opens out almost without interruption. Only a few roads, tracks and field boundaries break up the wide, empty landscape.
An Embi map poster shows a distinctly steppe composition. There is a tidy block of streets, a railway running straight through and a slow river curving past, all set in open space. It is a minimal image, and the long straight lines of the railway give it a strong direction across the frame.

Emba River bends
The Emba River meanders across the flat land in loose curves. It is the one soft, irregular line in an otherwise geometric picture.
Open steppe
Beyond the last streets the map is almost empty. Only faint tracks cross the steppe, which frames the town with a great deal of quiet space.

Railway families, people who served or worked here, and anyone who grew up on the steppe will recognise the town's outline straight away. The sparse design suits an interior where you want something personal but calm.
You can change the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example to add the name in Kazakh or Russian, and choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. It is available as a $9 HD file set or as a matte print, framed or unframed.
