The western road
The main road from Hargeisa towards the border runs through town. Most of Gebiley's streets are organised along this line, which acts as the backbone of the map.

Gebiley Map Poster & Print
Gebiley sits on the upland plateau of western Somaliland, west of Hargeisa, on the road that leads towards the Ethiopian border. From above it looks like a town that grew along a route. Its main streets follow the road, and short side lanes branch into low-density housing, compounds and market areas.
The district around the town is known as one of the more agricultural parts of the region. Rain-fed fields of sorghum and maize surround it. On a map, that shows up as a patchwork of tracks and plots fanning out from the town, cut here and there by seasonal watercourses that stay dry for much of the year.
A Gebiley map poster keeps things simple: a thread of road, a cluster of streets and a wide margin of open land. It is a modest composition, and that suits a place defined more by its setting on the plateau and its role as a market town than by any dense urban pattern.

Market town layout
A denser knot of lanes near the centre marks where trade and daily life gather. Around it, housing spreads more loosely into the surrounding land.
Farmland and wadis
Rural tracks and seasonal riverbeds cross the fields around town. They add fine, irregular lines to the otherwise open plateau.

For people from Gebiley, and for families now living far from Somaliland, a map of the town is a quiet way to keep home on the wall. It shows streets and roads that are familiar from memory, with no need for anything more elaborate.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can all be personalised, for example with a family name or a year of departure. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand to suit the room it will hang in.
