Hadley Wood sits at the northern edge of London, in the borough of Enfield, where the city gives way to open country. From above, the streets curve through the area in loops and cul-de-sacs, lined with houses set in large plots of land. Trees and gardens take up as much of the map as buildings.
The area developed around its railway station, on the main line north out of King's Cross. It is surrounded by green space: Hadley Common and Monken Hadley lie to the west, and the parkland of Trent Park is not far to the east. The Green Belt keeps the edges of the neighbourhood open, so the suburb ends abruptly in fields and woodland.
