Inverness Map Poster & Print
Inverness sits where the River Ness flows out into the Beauly and Moray Firths. It marks the northeastern end of the Great Glen, the long fault line that cuts diagonally across Scotland. On a map the river runs straight through the city centre, and water surrounds it on the north.
The Caledonian Canal enters from the west, cutting a separate straight channel parallel to the river before reaching the sea through its locks. Upstream, the Ness Islands split the river into wooded channels connected by footbridges. To the north, the Kessock Bridge carries the A9 across the narrows toward the Black Isle.
Inverness Castle stands on a rise above the river in the centre. Loch Ness lies a short drive to the southwest, and the battlefield of Culloden is to the east. An Inverness map poster brings firth, river, canal and bridges into one composition, with water setting the shape throughout.

Caledonian Canal
Thomas Telford's canal cuts a straight line along the west side of the city and ends at locks on the Beauly Firth, marking the start of the waterway through the Great Glen.
Kessock Bridge
The long road bridge spans the narrows between the Beauly and Moray Firths, linking Inverness to the Black Isle. It draws a strong line across open water on the poster.

Inverness is the gateway to the Highlands, a home for many and a starting point for countless trips north. A map with river, canal and firth drawn cleanly is a considered keepsake for a wedding, a move or a journey through the Great Glen.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a date or a family name. Choose Classic black and white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Blueprint suits the canal. Download it or order a printed poster with an optional wooden frame.
