The marismas
The protected marshes spread inland in a dense web of tidal channels and salt pans, giving the map an intricate, almost textile quality.

Isla Cristina Map Poster & Print
Isla Cristina lies on the western Andalusian coast, close to the Portuguese border, on land that was once a true island among the marshes. From above it is defined by water on every side: the long line of Atlantic beach to the south, the estuary of the Carreras river and a broad expanse of salt marsh and tidal channels inland.
The town was founded by fishermen from Catalonia and Valencia who settled here after the Lisbon earthquake of 1755, and it has remained a fishing port ever since, known for its tuna, sardines and canneries. Its carnival is one of the best known in Andalusia, and the marshes are protected as a natural area.
An Isla Cristina map poster is essentially a portrait of a coastline. The branching channels of the marsh contrast with the straight shore and the compact streets of the town, making it one of the more graphic maps on the Huelva coast and a natural fit for the Blueprint style.

Atlantic beaches
A long, straight strip of sand runs along the southern edge of the town, forming a clean boundary between the streets and the open ocean.
Fishing harbour
The port sits on the estuary side of town, where the fishing fleet and fish market face the channel that leads out to the sea.
