Reclaimed waterfront
Along Osaka Bay the shoreline is straight and angular, made of reclaimed industrial land cut by channels and quays, a strong graphic edge to the map.

Izumiōtsu Map Poster & Print
Izumiōtsu is one of the smaller cities in Osaka Prefecture, lying on the shore of Osaka Bay south of Sakai. Its map packs a lot into a small space: a dense web of residential streets inland, rail lines running parallel to the coast, and a band of reclaimed land along the waterfront with warehouses, docks and wide straight roads.
The city has a long association with woollen textiles and is known across Japan as a centre of blanket manufacturing, an industry that took root here in the late nineteenth century. Today it forms part of the industrial coastline of southern Osaka while also serving as a residential town for people who commute into the larger cities nearby.
An Izumiōtsu map poster makes the most of the contrast between the older town and the engineered waterfront. The fine grain of the inland streets meets the bold rectangles of the reclaimed land, and the bay gives the composition an open edge. It is an understated, precise print that suits smaller wall spaces.

Rail lines run roughly parallel to the shore, drawing long straight strokes through the dense neighbourhoods that lie between the inland suburbs and the bay.
Fine-grained town
Inland, the older residential areas form a close mesh of narrow streets and small blocks, typical of towns along the southern Osaka coast.
